The cutting-edge style get the close-to-nature feel from top to bottom where spectacular terraces and a superb indoor-outdoor connection provide soul-soothing escape in the balmy tropical climate. Every room offers opulence, comfort and incredible forest views. The open view terraces covered by a traditional piassava roof, very high ceiling, stretches across the entire front. The villa is one level loft that offers a breathtaking view and a backdrop for holistic massages with essential oils made out of the Atlantic Rainforest. Beside of a romantic hide away, Villa Kabru can also be booked as an individual adventure with a mix of activities alongside to exiting food and cooking experiences. Villa Kabru is made from 100 years old demolition woods and juts out of the jungle facing the sunset over the rainforest.

Fazenda Vertigo
Pure living
Fazenda Vertigo is situated on the outskirts of the town of Itacaré, in the south of the state of Bahia. It is located in the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlantîca), which is a protected UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Fazenda Vertigo blends seamlessly into its paradisiacal surroundings. This hideaway is built on a platform and the palpable sense of 360 degrees of openness, which is echoed in every detail, is more than just a concept – living in and living with the tropical forest with panoramic views of the Rio de Contas and the Atlantic Ocean.
Design concept \ spatial configuration
A sequence of two floor levels beneath a traditionally folded roof is the heart of the design concept and conveys the feeling of lightness. The panorama platform is suited for specific uses and relates to the environment and to each other in different ways. Over dimensional sliding doors between the various areas are creating one big open space living area. The pool rises up to 4 meters from the ground and gives the feeling of swimming into the endless blue. While living in the depths of the tropical forest, residents and guests still feel protected against wild nature.
Construction \ process
Existing wood from the old structure, from the Fazenda trees and locally available materials, which can be returned to the ecological cycle (cradle to cradle), were used for the renovation of the house.
A rough construction manual was drafted, based on a virtual 3D model, and then given life to on the site itself by local craftsmen, without the aid of classic construction plans. The link between traditional, local building techniques and contemporary design can be seen both in the technical high quality of the wooden structure’s joints, as well as in the natural roof made from interlaced palm leaves (Piaçava), whose shape mirrors the local building style.
Furnishings \ fittings
The Hide-Away, which is available for rent, is not far from the secluded, paradisiacal beaches of the fishing village and surf mecca, Itacaré (12km by car, 5 min. by bike and 2 min. by taxi-boat, directly from the Fazenda pontoon). The Hide-Away consists of an open-front living space with kitchen, panorama hang-out terrace, an open living platform, a master bedroom and a guest room both with walk-in closet space and generous bathing areas. A swimming pool with ensuite sunbathing platform is perfectly integrated into the wonderful landscape. The furnishings are a mix of contemporary classics and pieces produced by local carpenters in the area of Itacare. Fazenda Vertigo is fully equipped and ready to offer its guests a unique experience. The variety of fruits and berries produced on the estate (pineapple, coconuts, jack fruit, acerola, mangos, bananas,…, without mentioning the 400 cocoa trees) make the fazenda almost self sufficient. Nowhere else do luxury and nature meet in this way – unforgettably pure living.

Fazenda Vertigo is available for rent from September to May. The temperatures range between 20C and 30C throughout the year and sometime reach +30C during high season. The water temperature is between 24C and 27C. Guests’ well-being is the highest priority at Fazenda Vertigo. A plentiful breakfast is served every morning and the local service personnel takes care of housekeeping on a daily basis. Additional services, such as laundry, airport transfers, car and sports equipment rental, food shopping, boat rental, personal security or your own chef can be arranged for an extra charge. Massages (at the Fazenda Vertigo), surf lessons, day trips on land as well as on water and yoga classes for up to 4-6 persons on the panorama deck can also be booked.
